About Lake Baikal Trip

Hello friends who likes travel and adventure,
Our names Alena, Tatiana, Alex and Aleksander.
We are living in Russia, Irkutsk city; our entrainment is tourism, due to we are living in a beautiful region - Siberia, 70 km. from the Lake Baikal.
We are traveling during 10 years, 5-10 times in the year and duration of trips is 4-5 days, we know a lot of nice and without civilization places, some days at this places may charge you by positive energy for long time period. Every our travel to the Lake Baikal is adventure. We planning trip routs by ourselves, spend night in the tents or in a camping, cooking on campfire (BBQ). Trip details:
Destination is the Olkhon Island (280 km. from Irkutsk), detailed route you can see here: http://g.co/maps/c7fse.

We will go by 2 cars: Hyundai Tucson (2008) and Subaru Forester (2006), one car crew will include driver, navigator and 2 invited travelers. Duration of trip is 4 days, spend night in tents, and cook on open fire (cook we will do by ourselves for all team, of course any wishes to help and learn us are welcome), mobile hygienic shower and, toilet is in the forest in special place, also mobile Hot Russian baths house (banya) and swimming in cold lake after, additional recreation is fishing, every evening dinner with fish or meat BBQ.

Alex is 31 years old, high technical education, working on position of technician in Shlumberger Company. Hobby: Cars, skiing, travel. Cheerful, sociable. Level of English language is advanced.

Tatyana and Aleksander - crew of Hyundai Tucson.
Tatyana is 31 years old, high economic education of university, working on position chief of credit department in commercial bank. Hobby: theater, dancing (salsa), skiing, travel. Cheerful, sociable. Level of English language is speaking basic.
Alexander is 48 years old, high technical education, working on position operation manager of commercial company. He is leader of our team and organizer. Hobby: Cars, travel, dancing (salsa). Cheerful, sociable. Level of English language is basic.

Let's describe how your trip will look like and consist of:
We can provide you invitation letter if need, or you can insert or combine this trip with your travel as additional part.
Purpose of trip is get familiarity, find new friends, and see beautiful nature, familiarization with Siberian culture.
You have to arrive 8th of June or already be in Irkutsk city 9th of June. We can meet you in Irkutsk airport; carry to hotel for 1 day rest after travel.
Departure is 9th of June at 2:00 pm. to Olkhon Island. Duration of trip is about 4 hrs. to car ferry, main trip is asphalt road but 5 km. before car ferry is gravel road. On the way to Island we will have dinner in local "Brigantina" cafe' with local food (meat dumplings, lamb broth, fish "omul"(cisco) salad, pancakes and other for your choice). After that cross of river on ferryboat to the Olkhon Island, 15 - 20 min., rout to Lake coast for accommodation (tents or camping (economy or comfortable) for your choice). Dinner, campfire.

10th of June 10:00 am., have a breakfast. Will begin our trip along the island, visit famous places - cape "Burkhan"(rock "Shamanka"), and further go to sands beach in a "Nyurganskaya Guba" bay, course of road is via heavy-going forest and opened field. Lay out camp and banya(Russian hot bath house) In "Nyurganskaya Guba" bay, have a dinner, beach and forest walking. In the evening time have "banya" with swimming after, supper, campfire with guitar singing.

11th of June at 10:00 am., have a breakfast, trip for Whole day to cape "Hoboy", its north point of island (30-40 km.), also capes "Sagan Hushun", "Shulte", settlement "Uzury" which consist of meteorological station and 3 guests houses, after that back trip to township "Huzhir". Accommodation is in tents or in the guest houses, "Banya", supper, campfire with guitar songs.

12th if June at 07:00 am., earlier breakfast, trip to car ferry to 10:00 am., after ferry board trip to continent plan to visit influx of "Anga" river, dinner in "Brigantina" cafe', back trip, approx. arrival to Irkutsk city 8 pm., accommodation to hotels.

As additional offer:
Since 13th till 15th of June - we can show to you remarkable sight in Irkutsk city, trip to one more township "Listvyanka" on the Baikal lake coast, visit old not working railway along the lake coast (was built by Italian engineers and workers, more than 100 years ago) with beautiful tunnels and landscape, visit uninhabited museum village "Taltsy" (all trips will depends from your wishes).

Duration of "Siberian adventures" will take about 8 day.

Your acquisition/ impression/ scope / feeling/ perception in this trip:
-clear air;
-pure and crystal water, you can drink directly from lake;
- Immensely beautiful nature - blooming "ledum" and snowdrop, tops of mountings which are still covered by snow, relict forest, clear stellar sky;

Outfit / equipment / clothes:
We have tents, sleeping bags, tableware, photo and video eqt.
You have to take: parka, sweater, and cap, warm underwear clothes and arctic socks due to after sunset weather is cool in this period to +5 C., suitable footwear for walking and tracking, bath equipment.

Budget:
The Lake Baikal - 4 days - 1 person 150$ per day.
The Irkutsk city tour - 3 days - 1 person 100-200$ per day.

What is included?
- All transfers (from / to airport, from/to hotel, transfer to lake; trip inside and outside of Irkutsk).
- Tickets to museum and to other places.
- Meal/food during travel to the Lake Baikal.
- Tents, sleeping bags, travel mats, ware and other.
- Mobile banya and mobile shower.
- 1 day tour in Irkutsk city.
- 2 days tour tour to nearest coast of lake, "Listvyanka" village. (Visit historical ethnographic museum under open air, museum of Baikal dwellers, aquarium with trained seals, they are living in the lake; old railway road with tunnels along the lake coast (160 km.)

What is not included?
- Airway transfer to Irkutsk and back to your home. As common trips are passing via Moscow, your home - Moscow - Irkutsk, price from Moscow to Irkutsk is about $200-$300 by economy class, depends from Air Company.
- Accommodation in Irkutsk, price for hotels is 70-200$ per night.
- Meal in Irkutsk - avg. price in cafe' is 15-30$, depends from time (breakfast, dinner or supper) and place.
- if you wish to add new rout or places in our trip lets discuss, if you want to spend night in the camp houses pls advise us ahead and we book room for you in the camp(additional price is about $ 50 per night for 1 person).

About Lake Baikal

Lake Baikal is the world's oldest lake, at 25 million years, and deepest, averaging 744.4 metres (2,442 ft). Located in the south of the Russian region of Siberia, between Irkutsk Oblast to the northwest and the Buryat Republic to the southeast, it is the most voluminous freshwater lake in the world, containing roughly 20% of the world's unfrozen surface fresh water (23,000 cubic km). At 1,642 metres (5,387 ft), Lake Baikal is the deepest and among the clearest of all lakes in the world. In a good day you could see 40 meters into the lake. Lake Baikal is 640km long and judging by its dimensions only it would be more of a sea than a lake. More than 300 streams and rivers flow into Lake Baikal, but there is just one outlet, the Angara. The water in the lake creates a mild microclimate around its shores. There are 27 islands in Lake Baikal, most of them being uninhabited. Baikal was formed as an ancient rift valley, having the typical long crescent shape with a surface area of 31,722 km2 (12,248 sq mi). Baikal is home to more than 1,700 species of plants and animals, more than half the species found in Lake Baikal are unique to this place, two thirds of which can be found nowhere else in the world. Baikal was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996.
